Genesis 4:7"If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? but if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."

I was reading this and the end part of this scripture hit me. God is speaking to Cain before he kills Able. What he is talking about is mastering your sin. This is something I believe we have all tried to do but never do completely. The only way we can completely master our sin is with the help of Jesus. When we surrender our sin to Jesus that is when we master it. Some of us make that a hard thing to do because we are so deep into our sin that it takes a daily surrendering. Some sins are easier to surrender. The point is no matter what, to master your sin you can't do it by yourself, you need God’s help.

  1. If we put half the engergy it takes to master your sin into seeking God's will for your life you will see that the sin no longer exists and you will be blessed beyond you can imagine.

  2. I have always been stumped by the first half of that scripture. I have heard that Cain's sacrifice was not acceptable because of his attitude, but you did not see his attitude until his sacrifice was rejected. Both gave from what they were, farmer and shepherd. However, I see that Abel's sacrifice was from the firstborn of his flock. The Bible does not specify if Cain gave the first of his crops, it just says some. Would it be wrong to assume that God requires our firsts. The best of everything that we have to offer. Not the middle, last, or leftovers. When you consider what God has given us, I don't know why sometimes it seems to difficult to give him our best.
